Gynaecomastia
What is Gynaecomastia?
This is the development of male breast tissue.
Who is it for?
The appearance of man boobs or MOOBS can be devastating and frequently patients wish to have the excess breast tissue removed. This can help restore confidence.
What is involved?
For the majority of patients MOOBS can be removed by liposuction either with or without ultrasound assistance. A small scar can be placed in the armpit and the liposuction performed. Very occasionally an incision needs to be made under the areolar to directly remove the fat although this heals very well.
What is the recovery?
The recovery following gynaecomastia surgery is relatively quick and although swelling and bruising is common this has usually settled by 2-4 weeks. Patients are advised to wear a tight fitting top for the first 4 weeks following surgery. Usually patients can go home on the same day as surgery.
