Arm lift Case Study 18

This lady has lost a considerable amount of weight and has achieved her ideal weight and been weight stable for some time. Liposuction only in the presence of excess skin is not recommended but when combined with excisional techniques can be a very good way to provide arm rejuvenation. Patients must be aware of the length of the scar and possibility that it can become stretched. The results are seen at 6 weeks when the wounds have all healed. There can still be some swelling at this stage and patients need to massage the scars which are often red at this time. Often these scars can be well hidden and improve patients quality of life greatly allowing them to wear clothes they felt they would never be seen in again.

When considering arm lift surgery it is important to consider all the various options which may include liposuction. Patients with massive weight loss also consider surgery to their breasts, thighs and abdominal rejuvenation surgery i.e. abdominoplasty.
