Breast Reduction Case Study 34

This lady has excessively large breasts and this causes her significant back and neck pain. Although there is never any guarantee that this will be improved by breast reduction the majority of patients do find symptomatic relief after the breasts are reduced. This lady has had almost 2kg removed and the breasts have been lifted. The results are seen at 6 weeks when the scars are still red. The breast tissue will continue to drop over the coming months to create a smoother appearance in the lower contour and patients at this point need to massage the scars to help both the appearance and color/contour of the scars but also to help relax the tightness of the vertical scar so that the breast can drop over the coming months. Even in large reductions an aesthetic shape can often be achieved although patients need to be aware of all the options including free nipple grafting as an alternative.
