Facial Reconstruction Case Study 76

This gentleman has had removal of a BCC of his forehead resulting in a defect that is in a cosmetically sensitive area. He has already had a number of previous skin lesions removed and in this area there is little movement of his local tissues. He has opted for a local flap and in this area the best way to achieve this is via a scalp flap. Often these flaps can appear to patients to be very large and patients need to be aware that it can take time to heal. The result shown from a scalp flap are after 3 months when the scars have matured. This gentleman has massaged the scars and he should continue to place sunscreen over the area and the scars moving forward.
