Can I Get A Liposuction Procedure On Stomach Fat?

Liposuction surgery is the process of removing fat from the body and can be used on several areas. Many patients consider having the liposuction procedure on stomach fat. Although there are many positives when undergoing this procedure, there are also negative points to be wary of. More specifically, on some occasions, too much or not enough fat is removed. This can leave excess fat after the procedure is conducted. This is why it’s extremely important to run through the pros and cons of the procedure before you go ahead.

Where this is considered greatly is if you choose to get a liposuction procedure on stomach skin and fat. The front of the abdomen has a very thin dermis. This means there should be careful consideration when removing fat during the liposuction procedure on stomach skin.

The liposuction procedure can be more useful on the flanks where there is more excess skin and the dermis appears thicker. If any irregularities were to occur for any reason, it would be easier to hide them in this particular area. View our case study of a patient who has had a liposuction procedure on stomach area and flanks. The results show positive physical changes in their appearance from before to after.

As always, before you go ahead with this procedure, it’s important to ensure this type of surgery is right for you. Visit our liposuction case study page for more information.

Can My Buttocks Improve By Moving Fat From Stomach To Buttocks?

It can be rather common for patients to use a liposuction procedure for moving fat from stomach to buttocks. What you might ask yourself though is whether this surgical procedure will actually help to improve the appearance of your buttocks. In this vlog, we go into more detail about liposuction and whether it can enhance the appearance of your buttocks for the better.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure to help remove excess fat that has formed over time. In some cases, a fat transfer can be used to inject the excess fat back into the body in an area of your choice. The technical term for this is better known as liposculpture.

The appearance of your buttock can improve by moving from your stomach to buttocks and this is accomplished by removing fat from the flanks and abdomen area of your body and injecting it back into the buttocks. It’s important that enough body fat is removed from these areas in order to gain the ideal hip to buttock ratio. In some cases, patients also have fat removed from underneath the buttock areas to achieve this.

Overall, liposuction and more specifically liposculpture is a great technique to help improve the overall contour of your buttocks. The pros and cons of moving fat from stomach to buttocks will be discussed during your consultation.

Can Eyes Appear Different? Blepharoplasty Before And After

What patients need to consider before going through any form of facial rejuvenation surgery is that both sides of the face are different, therefore how your face appears from blepharoplasty before and after, for example, will always appear dissimilar.

The image shown in the video is a good example of this. You’ll see in the image shown of the patient that there are differences in one eyelid compared to the other. There is more skin showing the right eyelid compared to the amount of skin shown in the left eyelid. You’ll also see that the angles of the eyes also appear different. Towards the end of the video you’ll see the results of blepharoplasty before and after the surgery and how these differences can impact the final result.

Although blepharoplasty surgery is used to reduce the excess skin formed around the eyes and provide rejuvenation, there are still differences in the eyes in the patient. The angle in which the patient’s’ eyes were before the surgery still remains but the appearance of the eyes have improved. Essentially, asymmetry will always occur with every facial rejuvenation procedure.

What Happens During Surgery For Nose Tip Reshaping?

Surgery that involves nose tip reshaping is more commonly known as a tip rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty surgery is chosen if a patient is looking to change the appearance of their nose and gain more aesthetically pleasing results. For surgery that involves nose tip reshaping, there are several structures of the nose that need to be considered in order to gain the results that you require. The columella is located in the middle of the of the tip of the nose where the septums run around it from the front to the back of the nose. The lower lateral cartilages then sit to the side of the septums creating dome structures which help to cover the tip of the nose. The septums and cartilages are required to be changed to make changes to the tip.

In this video, a case study is provided of a patient who went through surgery for nose tip reshaping. She chose to have the surgery as the tip of her nose was extremely elevated. This was due to the shaping of the dome cartilages. In order to access these, an open or tip rhinoplasty incision is required which is made from the tip of the nose to the upper lip where changes or removals are made. The cartilages can also be used as graft/mask to cover up the issues that the patient has experienced.

The post-op images from the patients’ surgery shows how the nose tip has changed and the results gained from having an open rhinoplasty surgical procedure.

How Long Is Upper Eyelid Surgery Recovery Time?

A popular question that arises from many patients who receive upper blepharoplasty surgery is how long their eyelid surgery recovery time will be. Upper Blepharoplasty involves the removal of skin on the upper eyelid of a patient. Many patients may choose to have this type of surgery when they have excess skin forming on the eyelid and their eyelids become ‘droopy’.

How Is Eyelid Surgery Done?

The surgery is done by making an incision on the crease of the eyelid. This is where the excess tissue is removed from and this is completed whilst you’re under local anesthetic. Because of this, this makes the upper eyelid surgery recovery time relatively short. After the surgery is completed, we’d normally expect to remove the stitches after about a week, making the eyelid recovery time quite quick.

Eyelid Surgery Recovery Case Study

In the video above, you can see an example of a case study for a patient’s upper eyelid surgery recovery time, about 6 weeks after. As you can see, pre-op the patient is suffering from quite heavy eyelids, but after the surgery there is a visible appearance and improvement of her eyelids.

Side Effects Of Eyelid Surgery Recovery

You should expect to see some bruising after the surgery but this will normally settle around 1-2 weeks after so it’s important that you can massage the scars after the surgery to aid recovery. As always, pros and cons of the surgery will be discussed during your consultation, including tailored details on eyelid surgery recovery time.

Should I Have Rhinoplasty Surgery To Repair A Broken Nose?

When a patient receives a broken nose, there can be effects on the nose that will impact your physical appearance and many believe rhinoplasty surgery to repair a broken nose is the solution to this. However, it’s important to be patient with the decision on what you wish to do as there are many aspects that have to be considered before considering surgery to repair a broken nose.

A full assessment of the nose would be required so that the general functionality of the nose can be checked. This will include considering whether the airways are functioning correctly, if the nose is actually fractured, whether you’re able to breathe correctly through your nose and you’re not having trouble with general respiratory functionality. This should be seen as a short-term solution as if there are any issues that are occurring, it would be more ideal to conduct a manipulation of the nose under general anaesthetic.

Rhinoplasty surgery to repair a broken nose can be seen as a long term solution once these assessments have been made. Roughly 12-18 months after the broken nose occurring would be an ideal time to consider surgery to repair a broken nose. A case study in the video is provided where a patient had a spike in their nose and the spike was reduced through a realignment of the radex. In this case, a rhinoplasty was a suitable solution for the patient but this can all be discussed through your consultation.

When Should I Consider A Revision Rhinoplasty?

A revision rhinoplasty surgery is an extremely complex and sensitive surgery. It’s a surgery that’s performed when an issue has appeared from a previous nose job surgery which is why it’s essential that the pros and cons of the surgery during a consultation. Depending on the issues that you’ve had will determine whether revision rhinoplasty surgery is worth going through.

In the video above, there is an example of a patient who has gone through a revision rhinoplasty procedure. The reason they chose this is that they were having many issues after having an initial nose job performed at a previous place elsewhere. These issues included:

  • Breathing problems
  • Trauma
  • A Deviation in the nose

What is worth considering is that there will be a longer healing time required compared to an initial nose job and the swelling can also take longer to settle. For example, the case study shows pictures of the patient’s nose 6 weeks after the surgery and then a year after. Despite there being a large time-frame from when the surgery was done, there are still signs that the patient’s’ nose is still healing. The swelling of the nose is also evident in the images.

There are alternatives to revision rhinoplasty including open and closed procedures depending on the work required but it’s important that patients have realistic expectations of what can happen during the revision rhinoplasty procedure and this will be discussed in the consultation.

What Causes Ptosis? – Blepharoplasty Surgery

Blepharoplasty surgery is the type of surgery that can be a help for droopy eyelids. It helps to correct defects and disfigurations in the eye for a better appearance. In the video, there is an example provided of a patient who has gone through an upper lid blepharoplasty procedure in order to correct the disfiguration in her eye of her eyelid drooping. There are before and after photos shown to showcase the patients’ results and there is a visible difference in her eyes, showing them to be more open and symmetrical.

We continue our vlog series into the new year with the focus on blepharoplasty surgery and what causes ptosis in the eyelids in the first place. It can mainly be caused from ageing and the dropping of tissue around the periorbital region which is located on the upper face. More specifically, there is the impact of relaxation in the forehead which causes forehead ptosis, and tissue and muscle reduction found internally in the eye. These can be common reasons for what causes ptosis around the eyelids.

There are further details provided about the blepharoplasty surgery also, including the expected recovery time after the surgery, how long the surgery takes as well as how the surgery is performed. As always however, it’s always important to understand the surgery that you go through and what causes ptosis as well as other eye defects.

How Much Tissue Is Removed in a Lower Body Lift?

A lower body lift (also known as a belt lipectomy) is the removal of tissue; typically requested and performed on successful weight loss patients. The tissue is removed all of the way around the body.

Every patient who loses weight does so differently and as such the distribution of skin after the fact will also be different. On a case by case basis, patients need to prioritise which area they wish to address in particular. The higher up the removal of excess tissue then the higher the position of scars will be. For example, when the priority is to remove excess tissue above the waist, then the scar will be quite highly positioned also.

In the event of issues such as a saddlebag deformity – where excess skin hangs noticeably off of the buttocks – the positioning of the scar is somewhat different. The scar is lower and as the excision of the skin occurred more around the sides of the buttocks.

The end position of scars will be determined by the tension on the wounds and the extent on the excision. An adjustment will also need to be made to ensure the wound is properly closed. This can again affect the end result of the scar. Minimal tension is aimed for, but there is a limit to what can be achieved and removed in one surgery.

Results Of A Lower Body Lift

The surgery markings are always very individual and so the patients need to prioritise the areas they wish to address, maximising the amount of skin to removed. Ultimately, the aim is obviously to achieve the result that the patient hopes for and so this prioritisation is vital.

Three popular procedures using fat transfer surgery

The surprising procedures using fat transfer surgery available now

The popularity of fat transfer surgery has continued to rise, with more men and women then ever seeking information about this type of procedure. It’s actually incredibly versatile and can offer multiple benefits to patients of all ages.

Below you’ll find 3 procedures using fat transfer that we have seen an increase in, specifically from female patients.

Breast rejuvenation

Recently it was revealed that there has been some link between some silicone breast implants and cancer.  As such, we have seen a rise in women seeking other types of breast rejuvenation procedures.

Fat transfer can be a useful tool in providing breast volume. Rather than using synthetic implants the body’s own fat is used to increase volume in one or both breasts.

As well as boosting volume, breast rejuvenation treatments using fat can help to kick start collagen renewal and improve the quality of the tissue and skin around the area.

Buttock augmentation

Fat transfer for buttock augmentation isn’t a particularly new procedure, but it is one that’s increasing in popularity year on year. During this procedure fat is taken from an area such as the abdomen and replaced in the buttocks to create volume.

This procedure is popular with women looking to boost their curves and create natural looking volume. A large part of it’s popularity has comes from social media and celebrity culture.

This procedure is not suitable for everyone and a full consultation is needed in order to ascertain suitability.

Facial rejuvenation

Another novel way to use the body’s own fat is via facial rejuvenation. There are multiple ways to use fat to improve the signs of ageing in the face.

For the upper face, fat transfer can improve the appearance of the skin and provide volume. For the mid face it’s great for cheek augmentation.

Some patients choose to combine fat transfer treatments with non surgical facial rejuvenation treatments for a total aesthetic makeover. There’s more information on these types of treatments in terms of anti ageing via the treatment pages.
