How should I prepare for a consultation?

Only you can describe the concerns you have. It is important to highlight what concerns you most and whether it is aesthetic and/or functional in nature. Think about what you are trying to achieve and how to say this during the consultation. Think about the timing of your procedure and the recovery following the procedure and always ask about postoperative restrictions on activity and typical time periods for resuming work and social activities. Research into the procedure and think of potential questions regarding the procedure. There are risks with any surgical procedure. Ask what they are, how often they occur, and how they will be handled if they do occur. In particular ask your surgeon his/her complication rate for that procedure. If the surgeon does not openly discuss the risks or says that there are no risks, seek another opinion.
