Will I have bruising after my rhinoplasty?

You will always have bruising after a rhinoplasty. This is often seen by bruising around the eyes especially the lower eyes. This usually resolves in a week although occasionally it can take a little longer. The amount of bruising is related to the extent of surgery and whether the nasal bones need to be fractured. The bruising if no fractures have been performed is minimal.

When can I get the wounds wet?

I normally advise patients to keep the wounds dry for the first week following surgery. Occasionally patients do get the wounds wet and this does not seem to be detrimental to healing. After the first week one is able to shower and bathe normally. For blepharoplasty I would recommend avoid swimming pools until the wounds have healed. This is usually between the 1-2 week phases.
