Breast Reduction Case Study 39

This lady chose to undergo a breast reduction to decrease her symptoms of neck pain, shoulder pain and discomfort of the excess weight. Breast reduction can not only improve these symptoms but can also help to improve the aesthetic shape. This lady has healed well at 6 weeks and the scars will continue to improve. This lady was at university and has not thought about starting her family. It is important to consider the timing of this operation and the pros and cons. The sensation and the chances of breast feeding can be affected by this surgery although certain techniques can be employed to decrease the chance of sensory loss and damage to the ductal system.

When considering breast reduction it is important to consider the pros and cons of breast augmentation with breast implants and the use of autologous fat transfer. In this scenario, the main issue was related to the functional issues associated with excess weight and breast implants and fat transfer were not a priority.

At a consultation, it is important to run through all the pros and cons and the various options of breast rejuvenation surgery so that you can be empowered to proceed. Mr Ross will show you various preoperative and postoperative results so that you can understand what can be achieved and what is to be expected.
