I have previously had abdominal surgery. Can I have an abdominoplasty?

This depends on what surgery you have had before. Commonly scars from previous abdominal surgery are placed just above the pubis. With increasing laparoscopic surgery there may be small scars on the abdomen from this surgery. Appendix and gall bladder related surgery scars can also be visible on the anterior abdominal wall. Uncommonly vertical laparotomy scars may be present. Often an abdominoplasty can be performed regardless of the scar and the scars either removed or improved. The placement of your original scars may dictate which type of abdominal rejuvenation is best for you and a consultation regarding the pros and cons of abdominoplasty will help to determine whether an abdominoplasty is the best treatment for you.
